The Mont d’Arbois Golf Club by Henry Cotton, the highlight of the Domaine
Overlooking the village of Megève, at an average altitude of 1320 metres, the 18-hole golf course at the Mont d’Arbois Golf Club is today one of the oldest Alpine golf courses. It was back in the 1920s that the Baroness Maurice de Rothschild made the Domaine du Mont d’Arbois into a privileged mountain holiday location. But it was her son, the Baron Edmond de Rothschild, a golf enthusiast, who was behind the creation of the Mont d’Arbois Golf Course in French Alps in 1964, entrusting the layout to an expert, Henry Cotton. The result is a really nice 18 hole mountain golf course with amazing view of the Alps.
The Baron Benjamin and his wife Ariane de Rothschild continued this family tradition by transforming and modernizing the facilities of the Domaine du Mont d’Arbois, which now counts several hotels and restaurants.
The Mont d’Arbois Golf Course is the setting for numerous amateur and professional competitions. The Winter Golf Cup is an event in its own right since, at the height of winter, the snow-covered course is specially prepared for an exceptional competition.
The Pro Shop is open daily from 9am to 7pm and proposes a full range of equipment and clothing for beginner and professional golfers: clubs, gloves, shoes, and other clothing items, branded Taylor Made, Cleveland, and Polo Sport, to name but a few.
To make things even easier, there is an underground car park near the Club, with a lift that takes you right to the entrance of the Mont d’Arbois cable car.
