TPC Las Vegas is a gem of a par-71, 7,081 yard championship golf course designed by acclaimed architect Bobby Weed and World Golf Hall of Famer Raymond Floyd.

Since opening in 1996, the TPC Las Vegas golf course (previously TPC at The Canyons) has some of the richest PGA TOUR history in all of Las Vegas. From 1996-2006, the TPC Las Vegas hosted the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children Open, the Bard Capital Challenge and the Las Vegas Senior Classic. During that time, some of the world’s best golfers and major title winners — Phil Mickelson, John Daly, Hale Irwin and Jim Furyk — have graced the fairways of the TPC Las Vegas.

But you don’t have to be a PGA TOUR pro to get a tee time at TPC Las Vegas. A true test of shot-making skill, the TPC Las Vegas golf course can challenge even the most seasoned of golfers. The lush greens weave through a scenic desert landscape of arroyos and barrancas over several hundred acres. The golf course plays at an elevation of between 2,000 and 2,500 feet, allowing you to get about 7-10 yards extra distance in the high desert. Your putts will pick up some speed breaking away from the mountains and mostly everything breaks toward the Stratosphere casino and hotel, which you can see in the distance from certain points on the golf course.

The golf course’s back nine is especially tricky to navigate. While no signature hole exists, the 423-yard, par-4 13th called “Death Valley,” offers risk-reward that best captures the spirit of play at TPC Las Vegas.

Signature hole at TPC Las Vegas: 2nd hole with island green that is surrounded by a barranca

Signature Hole: 2nd – 196 Yard Par 3 – The 2nd hole is your first introduction to desert/canyon golf and it hits you with a bang! At nearly 200 yards, this island green that is surrounded by a barranca and desert rather than water offers the most challenging approach shot of the day. A single bunker sits on the right side of the green that is 39 yards deep and not as wide. There is a bit of forgiveness right of the putting surface that will kick balls back towards the hole, but anything left of the green will finish down with the lizards.
