It’s said that when Jack Nicklaus created the Kiele Course, the terrain lent itself so well to his vision that he made but a single change to his original design. So it’s no surprise that this incredible 7,070-yard resort course is hailed as one of the finest golf gems in the Pacific. The Kiele has a sense of style uniquely its own. Fairways weave along imposing ocean cliffs, over promontories high above Nawiliwili Harbor, and among some 38-acres of freshwater lagoons. Mountains and mango tree forests frame your shots and stunning views of the Pacific and Kalapaki Bay highlight the inward nine. Kiele’s signature hole is the 330-yard 16th. The fairway borders the ocean, and the green juts into the sea. Golfers with strong nerves can drive the green, but risk the ball splashing into the Pacific, sometimes known as the biggest water hazard of all time.

A perfect complement to the more challenging Kiele, the gentler 18-hole Mokihana Course was designed with all skill levels in mind.

This Scottish-style rolling links course serves up remarkable views with its open fairways and challenging greens. The Mokihana’s challenges come within 150-yards of the hole, where undulating greens, serpentine rough areas and creative bunkers can add strokes if one is not mindful.

The Mokihana has been rated by Golf Magazine as one of the ten most playable courses in America, and presents a breathtaking perspective of Mount Wai‘ale‘ale, the extinct volcano that birthed the island of Kaua‘i.
