The course at Arcos Gardens Golf & Country Club was constructed by American company Landmark, designers of courses like PGA West, Palm Beach Polo and the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island. This 18-hole layout, set within the 440-acre Arcos Gardens residential estate, is intended to challenge elite golfers and entertain amateurs at the same time.
Since opening in 2006, it has certainly succeeded in attracting the more proficient golfer as both the Swedish Golf Federation and the English Golf Union have chosen Arcos Gardens as a winter training facility.
The golf club’s green credentials are very much to the fore as they have replanted more than 2,000 olive trees around the property and installed a modern water treatment plant to recycle all water used on the course.
The front and back nine both feature great closing holes. A stream on the par five 9th cuts across the fairway twice as it meanders into a pond to the right of the green and a lake to the left of the 18th green awaits any pulled final approach shots.
A clubhouse, spa and equestrian centre are all due to be completed in the very near future, finishing off a fabulous golfing facility at Arcos Gardens Golf & Country Club.
Surrounded by a vast array of wildlife and plants, with views across the countryside to surrounding lakes and the cliff-top town of Arcos de la Frontera, a round of golf at Arcos Gardens Golf is a true pleasure for all players.
