Established in 1922, Royal Mayfair Golf Club has been described as “pomp and circumstance tucked away in the North Saskatchewan River valley”. The club is one of only several Canadian golfing societies with the “Royal” prefix and its splendid course is certainly worthy of such a regal club.
Formerly known as Mayfair Golf and Country Club, the club earned royal title from the Queen during Alberta’s centenary celebrations in 2005.
The renowned architect Stanley Thompson extensively remodeled the par 71, 6,744-yard layout in 1927 to the extent that it is regarded as a Thompson original. The course was chosen to host the Canadian Open in 1958 when Wes Ellis’s score of 267 was good enough to claim the title.
Royal Mayfair Golf Club is located in Edmonton, Alberta and it’s one of the most gorgeous venues in the area.
