At the heart of the seaside town of Pornic, the 18-hole golf Golf de Pornic offers a contrasting game alternating a wooded area (5 holes) and another very Scottish (13 holes).
Between Noeveillard and Grandes Vallees, the first 9 holes of golf Pornic are emerging under the auspices of Augustus Laraison, René Lievain, Maurice Fenaille and The Count of Madre in 1912 and are one of the oldest clubs in France.
In 1992, it turns to a municipal golf course and grows up from 9 to 18 holes (Architect Michel Gayon), giving the new course an interesting technical aspect with regard to the Slope which has been assigned (81 bunkers and five ponds).
The first hole gives the impression of a rather American-style, open and earth-mounded layout, bounded by holiday apartment buildings, all uniformly three stories in height. This description may apply to much of the course, but from the second to the sixth hole (played on the other side of a small road) the character of the course is distinctly different. This is an area of narrow, tree-lined, potential card-wrecking holes, which includes the short par-3 4th where the green is completely obscured by a tall-ish pine tree. Back across the road for the 7th, the course re-enters the more open terrain, characterised by its modern layout, where closely interwoven holes are flanked by a few water hazards and excellent bunkering.
