Costa Rica
The first golf in Costa Rica was created in 1944 in Cariari. The “Costa Rica Country Club” used to be a 9 holes course and was extended to an 18 holes in the 70’s. Since then, there is about 25 courses throughout the country: 5 18-holes and around 20 9-holes. The last one is the magnificent Four Seasons green in the Guanacaste: a wonderful view over the Papagayo Gulf and the Pacific Ocean from almost the entire course… We love it! Note that Costa Rica is sandwiched between Nicaragua to the north and Panama to the south, and the country is one of the most progressive countries in Central America. Once heavily reliant on exporting bananas, pineapples and coffee, Costa Rica now earns an increasing amount of foreign exchange from industries such as electronics, software development and ecotourism.
