At the edge of the Ile de France in the department of Oise, Apremont golf club is nestled in the heart of the forest of Halatte on 300 acres (200 acres being reserved for the golf course and its facilities, the remaining 100 offering a pleasant hunting ground on closing days during the low season), close to the fortified city of Senlis and not far from Chantilly, famous for its castle and many studs.
With a total length of 7 000 yards from the white tees, it provides an opportunity for long hitters to express themselves, mainly through the wide fairways of the back holes. On the front 9, the sequencing of several doglegs (holes 2, 4, 5 and 7) and judicious planting of trees of varying species isolating each fairway require reflection and strategy. Too bad the visual isolation created by the trees is not extended to the sound: the main road from Creil to Senlis unfortunately troubles the quietness of the site on the front 9. Its layout is straighter on the back 9 and may arise in some a slight sense of monotony, but quickly dissipated by the complexity of an impeccable green maintenance.
