Bjaavann Golfklubb Kristiansand is home to one of Norway’s well-rated championship courses. This tree-lined and open parkland layout should not disappoint, with many attractive features and several excellent holes to enjoy. Plenty of golfing challenge and usually good upkeep contribute to the appeal of this well-crafted and pleasantly testing design. One to include on your play list if you are in the area.
The 18 hole/par 71 course was opened June 2006 and is landscaped around the idyllic Bjaavann lake (Norway). From the clubhouse you can overlook 14 of the holes and water is in play at almost all the holes.
The signature hole at Bjaavann is the 170-yard 8th, the second of back-to-back par three holes on the front nine. Played from an elevated tee high above the level of the lake, golfers take aim at a green that juts out into the water with a large bunker placed front left to catch any timid tee shots.
Robert Trent Jones II thinks very highly of the location chosen for this development: “The good people of the Bjaavann Golfklubb have truly provided a wonderful canvas to create golf art. This extraordinary site embodies all the many beautiful characteristics with which Norway is blessed. It is our job to merely discover and unveil a great golf experience while respecting Mother Nature”.
No wonder Bjaavann is rated among the top courses in Norway.
The course has a nice clubhouse with restaurant and ProShop, driving range and putting & chipping green. Buggies are available with priority for impaired players (at subsidized price). Golf clubs and trolleys are available for rent.
Kristiansand enjoys a mild costal climate and the course is open most of the year. During the summer months we have lots of light and golfing at late night (until 23:00) is possible.
