Brechin Golf Club

Set among splendid Angus scenery midway between Dundee and Aberdeen, Brechin Golf Club is a relatively flat parkland layout which enjoys scenic views of the Grampians from many of its holes.

Brechin Golf Club was formed in 1893, at Trinity Muir. The Par 72 parkland course is a scenically beautiful course in the heart of Angus who was partly designed by James Braid and provides magnificent views of the Grampian Mountains. Only an hour away from the historic courses of St Andrews and Carnoustie, Brechin Golf Club is more of a hidden gem in this area but provides a good test of golf to all standards of golfer. The first hole is wide and open but thereafter the landing areas get narrower and a premium is placed on accuracy. At only 288 yards long the 8th hole is reachable for the longest hitters but the ball must be either threaded through the tight gap or carried over the trees. A seemingly straightforward birdie chance can soon prove expensive with out of bounds on both sides.

The back nine tests the golfers shot making ability to the full with the stretch from the 14th to the 16th requiring maximum concentration. The closing two holes are relatively easy but by then the damage may have been done!
