With its’ superb conditions and beautiful wetlands setting, Cypress Head Golf Club in Port Orange, Florida, is a Public Course that offers a private and tranquil experience as you face the Fairways and Greens.
Noted designers Arthur Hills and Mike Dasher created this course in 1992, and it has stood the test of time environmentally. Hills is known for Renaissance in Fort Myers and Mirasol in Palm Beach Gardens; Dasher is the designer of the North Shore Golf Club in Orlando.
It’s evident that the architects laid out Cypress Head Golf Course amid the cypress forest and natural Florida wetlands in Port Orange with great care for the land. “On most of the holes, you’re going to find beautiful backdrops behind each green setting,” Dasher said.
Fourteen of the 18 holes have water in play – with several forced carries (especially from the back sets), and wetlands often help to define landing zones. Bunkering is understated (38 total) but strategic, and the green complexes are sloped and undulating. Golfers will have to successfully negotiate the frequent doglegs that bend in either direction, to score well at Cypress Head. Fairway and greenside mounding are also prevalent, creating some tricky recovery opportunities.
On property is a clubhouse with fully stocked pro shop, and Titleist club-fitting is available. The Cypress Head Golf Club Bar & Grill offers a full bar menu, breakfast menus Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, hot & cold sandwiches daily plus specialty dishes (and a Sunday Brunch), and on-property banquet facilities can accommodate groups of up to 150 guests. The Kan 2 Golf Academy offers lessons and programs to service expert and novices, on the on-property practice facilities which include a range that is lit until 9pm for night practice, plus a short game area and two putting greens.
