Golf Club Achensee

Golf Club Achensee

Founded in 1934, the Golf Club Achensee is the oldest golf club in Tirol and among the first golf clubs to be established in Austria. Nestled between the Karwendel mountains and Lake Achensee, the “Leading Golf Course” boasts a unique location and spectacular views.

Situated at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level on the western slopes of Lake Achen, the largest lake in the Austrian Tyrol, Achensee Golf and Country Club was formed in 1934. The original course was a 9-hole affair that remained in play for almost seventy years until it was expanded to a full 18-hole layout in 2004. And in 2007, the new clubhouse was opened with all necessary facilities such as changing rooms, showers, locker room, garage, reception and secretarial services, pro shop and restaurant with all the necessary equipment.

Tree-lined fairways are laid out inside a 155-acre property within the Karwendel Alpine Park, where the course is complemented by an 18-bay driving range, practice chipping and putting greens and a bunker for perfecting sand shot skills. It’s a modern golf facility located in a truly spectacular Alpine setting, with golfers enjoying wonderful views in all directions.

The course at Golf Club Achensee extends to 6,018 metres from the back markers, with par rated at 71, and it features five par three holes, the longest of which is played at the 18th. You’ll encounter the toughest hole on the card at the 505-metre 4th, where the fairway runs alongside a stream for most of its length before veering sharply left towards the green on the other side of the water.
