Enjoy the happiness in practicing your favourite sport in a legendary place. Founded in 1891 by the Grand Duke Michael of Russia and visited by all the royalties of Europe, the Golf de Cannes Mandelieu is one of the most mythical places of the Côte d’Azur (french riviera).
The Old course is laid out on a flat landscape, close to where the River Siagne meets the sea, and the fairways weave through a small forest of Mediterranean parasol pine trees. Between fairways and emerald green landscape, you will be seduced by the quiet and peace and the quality of the environment, under the shade of century-old pine trees.
You will surprisingly discover a special feature of the “Old Course”: crossing the Siagne River in a ferry that takes you from hole 2 to hole 3 and from hole 12 to hole 13. Each year, the Old Course hosts the most prestigious meetings of the Côte d’Azur.
Although not overly long at only 5,745 metres (6,300 yards), the tightish fairways, excellent fairway and greenside bunkering and Colt’s trademark subtly sloping greens will sufficiently test your all-round golfing skills. Holes like the good-length par-4 7th demonstrate that even on flat terrain, a well-bunkered, tree-lined hole can look just as handsome as those that benefit from greater undulation
This classic and venerable old course is usually maintained in excellent condition, underpinning its status as a golfing gem, and one that’s well worth visiting whenever you are French Riviera bound.
Golf de Cannes Mandelieu also hosts a 9-hole called the “Grand Duke”. It was the first golf course created by the Grand Duke Michael of Russia. This course allows all-level golfers to play under the best conditions all year long and without fail.
