A delightfully attractive seaside course not far from Lorient, Golf de Ploemeur Océan is an absolute joy to play. Half the holes are more or less genuine links on proper sandy soil while the other half are inland and almost parkland in character. The combination of the two styles doubles the pleasure of this intriguing challenge.
With the holes quite tightly packed together, there’s not much room for error on the outward half. Your priority will be to keep clear of the menacing gorse and assorted water hazards, which include ponds, streams and even a river. The back nine takes you close to the small village of Kerham and includes a wonderful stretch (11 to 16) that runs right along the sea shore. On top of all that there’s interesting aquatic wildlife and splendid views across the rocky coastline to enjoy.
