La Estancia Golf Course, which belongs to the La Estancia Golf Resort, is near the town of La Romana, which is in the province of La Altagracia in the Dominican Republic. It extends across picturesque hills above the river valley of the Rio Chavón and allows for a beautiful view over the deep canyons.
Opened in 2008 as the 18-hole, La Estancia Golf Course is parkland course with par 72. The renowned golf course architect P. B. Dye was responsible for the design of the course, which was renovated in 2014. The 6,750-meter-long course runs across an open, wavy terrain and is characterized by wide fairways, lined by trees, very large greens, which are protected by numerous bunkers, and some lakes as water hazards.
The short par three 5th is a standout hole on the front nine, playing downhill to a raised green that’s perched on the edge of a gorge.Hole 2, where the golfers must manage a 200-meter-long tee-off over a gorge, is especially remarkable.. Water comes into play at the last two holes on the card; at the 17th, a pond fronts the front right hand side of the putting surface and a small lake runs down the left side of the fairway from tee to green on the home hole. The other holes of the golf course at the La Estancia Golf Resort also have high athletic and technical requirements for the golfers of all handicaps.
A driving range and a putting green are available in the practice area of the resort to train for it.
