Madinat Makadi Golf Resort’s 18-hole Championship Golf Course is the longest in the region, and it’s also one of the most picturesque, enjoying stunning views of the Red Sea, mountains and beautiful landscapes. Each hole is strategically designed and bunkers and water features have been used brilliantly to create plenty of risk/reward shot-making opportunities.
Although it can be stretched to 7,500 yards, this par-72 layout has six sets of tees, making it playable for virtually any standard of player. The Madinat Makadi golf course has been constructed to USGA specifications with fairways routed around a substantial residential development. Water comes into play at holes 6, 7 and 8 on the front nine and long, sandy waste areas fringe many of the fairways throughout the layout. Five holes on the championship course overlook the Red Sea, three of them enjoying views of lakes, too.
Both nines conclude with long, demanding par fives so there’s no room for slacking here in advance of reaching the respite of the clubhouse to indulge in an ice-cold refreshment at either the half way stage or the end of the round. In calm weather the course is relatively easy to get around. But the strong desert wind, which almost always is a factor, is what makes golf here something quite special.
In the extended clubhouse complex, there is an a la carte restaurant which also offers breathtaking views of both the golf course and the beach.
The golf course at Madinat Makadi Golf Resort also includes some unique training facilities. A beautiful 9-hole par 3 course and three intermediate holes, which allow beginners the chance to test their golfing skills. Furthermore, there is also a large 3-part driving range for up to 100 players at the same time, which is something that appeals especially to the pros that bring groups to the resort.
