Waiehu Golf Course’s 18-holes overlook a stunning tourmaline blue sea, the famous Waihe’e Reef in sight, just offshore.
The Waiehu golf course is located between the towns of Waihe’e and Waiehu, and is easily accessible from Kahekili Highway (Hwy 340).
Considered one of Hawaii’s two outstanding municipal golf courses, Waiehu is here for the riding or walking. It winds around a huge hill in the middle of the course and provides ocean views of Kahului Bay. Three holes on the front nine share the beautiful white sand beach of Waiehu Beach Park and overlook famous Waihee Reef.
Overall course conditioning is good by municipal course standards. This course’s level front nine plays out to the ocean at the sixth to eighth holes. The back nine plays through the bluffs from a series of elevated locations. Prevailing trade winds coming off the ocean add to Waiehu’s distinctive character. This Maui golf course hosted the USGA Amateur Links Championship in 1996.
