Zimbali Country Club offers 18 excellent golf holes overlooking the ocean and a layout in a fair manner rivaling the best golfers.
The course condition is impeccable and holes run along forests and South African moorland.
The course was designed by former tour player Tom Weiskopf, who in a dramatic landscape created a gem of a golf course. The layout requires you to hit straight, and the good shots are rewarded, while bad shots punished.
Zimbali Country Club is a golf course that will thrill most players due to design and also because the course is a great championship course laid out in a beautiful natural setting. You will experience views to the sea, which is indescribably beautiful.
There are two holes we absolutely love at Zimbali – the par 3 5th hole and the Par 5 17th hole. The 5th hole is a downhill Par 3 where you tee off from an elevated tee box to a semi-island green with the Indian Ocean providing a stunning backdrop to the hole – without doubt one of the prettiest par 3 holes in the country.
The Par 5 17th is a very short par 5 where you can easily hit a driver and a iron to get to the green – you would be hitting your driver downhill and your iron uphill as the hole plays through a small valley. A little bit of accuracy will give you a good Eagle opportunity.
Note that Zimbali Country club has been voted a top 10 coast region golf course in South Africa.
